This year's theme is, "Beyond Resistance, Beyond Rebellion: Creating Other Worlds", inspired by all the powerful work critical educators across LA are doing to re-imagine and humanize spaces both in and outside the classroom.
The keynote will be led by Stephanie Cariaga, a UCLA graduate student, sistarmaestra, teacher educator, and mother. Drawing from a range of frameworks - women of color feminist, trauma and healing-informed, and critical race theory - she'll be discussing the intersections of her work as a teacher and mother in developing healing-centered pedagogies. 20+ dope LA educators will be sharing their decolonial/social justice curriculum, with tangible takeaways and resources! Interactive workshops on liberatory art-making, restorative justice, ethnic studies, yoga, herbal remedies and more! Community healers and wellness practitioners will be demo-ing and providing their services on-site in our self-care rooms! Community vendors will be selling books, healthy juices, aromatherapy, jewelry, and more!
